Journalist and writer Halit Kakınç dies

Veteran journalist, writer, and academic Halit Kakınç has died. The Turkish Journalists Association (TGC) expressed its condolences to his family and the press community following the announcement of his passing. Details regarding the funeral service will be shared later.

Kakınç, born in Ankara in 1952, pursued higher education in political science, earning a master's degree and a doctorate in international relations. He began his journalism career in 1974, holding significant positions such as news editor, editorial director, editor-in-chief, and columnist at publications including Yeni Ortam, Son Havadis, Tercüman, Meydan, Yeni Asır, and Oda TV.

Alongside his journalistic endeavors, Kakınç was an academic and authored numerous books. His contributions to the field were recognized in 2024 when he was awarded the Burhan Felek Press Service Award. The TGC remembered him as a colleague who served the profession with distinction for many years.
