Ankara, Turkey – Journalist Nisan Çıra is under investigation for allegedly inciting hatred and enmity, a charge leveled against her for sharing photos on social media from a NATO protest she covered. The probe, initiated by authorities, cites Çıra's social media posts as the basis for the accusation.

The photos in question were taken during a protest in Ankara on June 27, preceding a NATO summit. This event occurred shortly after numerous social media accounts, including Çıra's, were blocked under a law related to national security and public order. Çıra's own account, "ciranisan," was blocked on July 7.
