Journalist's father dies in Celaya ISSSTE waiting room; family alleges mistreatment

A journalist has publicly denounced alleged medical negligence after his father died while waiting for treatment in the emergency room of the ISSSTE hospital in Celaya, Guanajuato. Marco Israel Mancera reported that his father was in delicate condition upon arrival but remained in a waiting room chair for approximately three hours without receiving necessary medical attention. Mancera stated that during this time, his father's health deteriorated significantly, despite his and his sister's repeated pleas for help. According to the family, the doctor on duty reportedly deemed the situation not an emergency, leading to the delay in care. Mancera's sister described the medical staff's conduct as "despotic and inhumane." The journalist emphasized that his father should not have endured such suffering and that his sister should not have experienced such desperation. He noted that the entire emergency room staff mobilized only after his father had already passed away. Other citizens have reportedly shared similar experiences at the Celaya ISSSTE, with some institutional personnel describing the attending physician as violent and selfish. Reporters from various media outlets have expressed solidarity with Mancera over the death of his father, Irineo Jesús Mancera, and condemned the alleged medical negligence.
