Joyride Costs Father Dearly: Minor's Stunt Leads to Heavy Fines in Crete

A joyride on a motorcycle in Chania, Crete, has resulted in significant fines for a minor and his father. The incident began late Monday night when police spotted a young unlicensed driver performing dangerous wheelies on his motorcycle in the center of Kastelli Kissamos.

The minor, instead of stopping, executed successive wheelies directly in front of the officers before speeding off into the narrow streets. Police, opting to avoid a risky pursuit, later identified the driver and located the motorcycle hidden at his residence.

Investigations revealed the motorcycle belonged to the father, who had knowingly allowed his unlicensed son to ride it. The minor was issued a €2,250 fine for traffic violations and reckless driving. His father faced a €350 fine for illegally lending the vehicle and had his driver's license suspended for one month due to insufficient supervision.

The motorcycle's license plates and registration were also confiscated, and the vehicle was impounded. The incident highlights the consequences of allowing unlicensed individuals to operate vehicles and the penalties associated with parental negligence.
