Junior Caminero becomes more selective at the plate, sees his on-base percentage rise

Dominican third baseman Junior Caminero is demonstrating remarkable power and improved selectivity at the plate for the Tampa Bay Rays. As of Monday, he leads the team with 14 home runs, including a recent blast to center field. The 22-year-old's performance continues the hot streak he showed during the World Baseball Classic, where he hit three home runs. Caminero, nicknamed 'La Máxima,' is building on his impressive 45 home runs from last season. What stands out this year is his increased patience, reflected in a .381 on-base percentage, a significant jump from last year's .311. He has reduced his strikeout rate, drawing 36 walks while striking out only 25 times. Caminero is projected to surpass his breakout 2025 season.
