They argued it was disrespectful to refuse a pitch invitation from the home team while openly supporting the rival team. However, others defended her, suggesting her honesty about her allegiance was a considerate act.

The situation escalated, leading Shin Ji's agency, JJ Star, to issue an official statement. The agency explained that the initial invitation for Koyote's celebratory performance was accepted to entertain the audience, regardless of team affiliation. However, the additional request for Shin Ji to throw the first pitch was politely declined due to her strong support for the Hanwha Eagles, believing it could cause discomfort to fans of both teams.
