Kamikamica Calls for Unity and Respect Among Fijians

Fiji's Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica is calling on all Fijians to embody compassion, honesty, humility, unity, and a spirit of service to foster stronger, more cohesive communities. Speaking at the National Milad-un-Nabi Jalsa 2026, Kamikamica highlighted the occasion as a valuable opportunity for reflection on the shared values that bind the nation together.

Kamikamica noted the enduring relevance of the teachings associated with Prophet Muhammad, particularly concerning interpersonal relationships and how individuals treat one another. He asserted that Fiji's inherent strength lies in its ability to unite diverse faiths and cultures through mutual respect, drawing parallels to the Prophet's example of bringing together people from various tribes and backgrounds into a single community.

"The prophet’s example was one of bringing together people of different tribes, backgrounds, and circumstances into a single community bound not by a bloodline, but by shared values and mutual respect. That is not so different from the Fiji we are building. A nation of many communities, cultures, and faiths learning still to see one another first and foremost as Fijians bound together by respect, decency, and a shared future," Kamikamica stated.

He further encouraged Fijians to extend service to humanity beyond religious observances, integrating charity, generosity, and concern for others into their daily lives. Kamikamica also promoted the celebration of each other's religious occasions and the learning of diverse traditions as essential components in building a unified and respectful Fijian society.
