Kaohsiung fire suspected to be caused by fireworks; police identify suspects

Firefighters in Kaohsiung battled a blaze late Wednesday night in an open area near a parking lot in the Gushan District. The fire department deployed 10 vehicles and 23 personnel to the scene, successfully extinguishing the fire by 9:43 p.m.

Fortunately, no injuries or trapped individuals were reported. Initial investigations by fire and police officials found remnants of fireworks and smoke boxes at the scene. This evidence leads investigators to suspect that the fire may have been caused by the setting off of fireworks.
