Kaohsiung Opens Fourth Public Infant Care Center in Gangshan District

Kaohsiung has opened a public infant care center in the renovated second floor of Houhong Elementary School, creating Gangshan District’s fourth such facility.

The Houhong Public Infant Care Center can accept 32 children from birth to age two. The city added an accessible elevator and commissioned the Kaohsiung Public Childcare Development Association to operate the center. It will also offer parenting education activities.

The Social Affairs Bureau said the project forms part of a plan to integrate childcare resources for children from birth to age 12 and establish one public childcare center in each elementary school district. The city is prioritizing schools with public kindergartens, nonprofit preschools or special classes for two-year-olds when identifying unused space for new centers.
