Karawang Regent Encourages Local Workforce Competency to Seize Jobs in Nine Industrial Estates

Karawang Regent Aep Syaepuloh has emphasized his administration's dedication to ensuring that the local workforce possesses the necessary competencies to secure employment within the regency's nine major industrial estates. Speaking during a visit from Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives to the KIIC Industrial Estate, Syaepuloh stressed that the growth of industries in Karawang must translate into greater job prospects for the local population.

"Currently, there are nine industrial estates in Karawang, housing a significant number of operating companies," Syaepuloh stated, highlighting the vast potential for local employment. He underscored the importance of strengthening synergy between the regional government, central government, educational institutions, and industry stakeholders. This collaboration, he believes, is key to improving the quality of the local workforce and increasing their absorption into the industrial sector.

To achieve these goals, the Karawang Regency government is implementing strategic measures focused on enhancing community competency and establishing standardized training programs. The objective is to align the skills of local workers with the specific qualifications demanded by companies operating in the industrial estates. This approach is expected to ensure that industrial growth not only stimulates the economy but also directly benefits the local community through expanded employment opportunities.

Echoing these sentiments, Saleh Partaonan Daulay, Chairman of Commission VII of the House of Representatives, affirmed that industrial estates should primarily benefit the local populace, particularly through job creation. He pointed to the readiness of the human resources as a critical factor in maximizing local employment. "Young people in Karawang need to be given the opportunity to obtain decent jobs with competencies that match company needs," Daulay remarked, advocating for vocational education programs tailored to industry requirements to ensure graduates possess relevant skills for the job market.
