Kathmandu Valley is buzzing with a diverse array of cultural events this week, offering something for every taste. From artistic expressions to community celebrations and entertainment, residents and visitors have numerous options to explore.

The Himalayan Art Festival 2026 includes a poetry session on Sunday, August 23, at the Nepal Art Council, featuring prominent Nepali poets and writers. Organized by Arts Nepal, the event is free to attend. Concurrently, Takpa Gallery is showcasing 'Voices from Himalayas,' a group exhibition presenting contemporary artists whose work is rooted in Himalayan identity and craft. This exhibit runs from August 22 to September 19.

Community spirit is on display at the Sanepa Cultural Street Festival on Saturday, August 22. This event celebrates Newa culture with live music, authentic local cuisine, and a market for artisans and entrepreneurs. Another art-focused event is ‘Felting Memories of Culture,’ an exhibition of felt artwork curated by Saphal Shrestha, tracing artists' creative journeys. It is on view at Sarvashhrestha Gallery from August 21 to September 20.

For those seeking interactive experiences, a beginner-friendly Dungeons and Dragons session is scheduled for August 22 at The Rustic Wood, where participants can create characters and embark on a tabletop adventure. St. Xavier’s College presents a Nepali stage adaptation of Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s ‘A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings’ from August 20 to 22. Additionally, a Pilates morning, incorporating hair braiding, mehendi, and breakfast, will be held on Saturday, August 22, in Baluwatar.

Rounding out the week's entertainment is the highly anticipated 'Shaan Live in Nepal' concert on August 22 at Club Nova, Thamel. Renowned Bollywood playback singer Shaan will perform a marathon set of over 40 songs, backed by his touring band. Ticket prices range from Rs4,000 to Rs6,000 for standing room.
