Kaunas airport incident forces all passengers off plane for renewed security checks

A woman’s action at Kaunas Airport forced every passenger to leave a London-bound plane and undergo aviation security checks again.

The incident occurred at about 8:23 a.m. while passengers were boarding a flight from Kaunas to London Stansted. Tomas Urbonas, Kaunas Airport’s head of operations, said the passenger approached the airport perimeter fence and took an item from a person on the other side.

Airport staff immediately began the required security procedures to protect passengers and crew. In such cases, all passengers must leave the aircraft and return for a new aviation security screening. The aircraft also receives an additional inspection.
