Kayaker escapes unharmed after boat passes over kayak near Reykjavík

A kayaker narrowly avoided injury today when a boat passed directly over their kayak in waters near Reykjavík. Fortunately, the kayaker emerged from the incident unscathed, according to the police log.

The incident was one of several noted in the police report covering the period from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. While the boat-over-kayak event was a close call, police also addressed numerous traffic violations across different districts.

In Hafnarfjörður, Garðabær, and Álftanes, officers stopped a driver operating a vehicle without a valid license. Meanwhile, in Kópavogur and Breiðholt, another driver was cited for running a red light and exceeding the speed limit. Two additional drivers in Kópavogur were stopped for driving significantly over the posted speed limit.

Further traffic enforcement included stopping drivers for using mobile phones while driving without a hands-free setup. All reported traffic violations were processed according to standard procedures.
