Kazakhstan Braces for Late Summer Snow and Frost After Heatwave

Kazakhstan is set for a significant weather upheaval as the tail end of summer brings a sharp change from recent warmth. Atmospheric fronts are expected to sweep across most of the country, bringing with them rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds. This turbulent weather is forecast to persist through August 29, 30, and 31 in various regions.

The most dramatic temperature drops are anticipated in northwestern, northern, and central Kazakhstan. Nighttime temperatures are predicted to plummet to between 0 and 5 degrees Celsius, with localized frosts reaching as low as -3 degrees. Daytime temperatures in these areas will struggle to climb, reaching only between 10 and 15 degrees Celsius.

Heavy rainfall is specifically forecast for August 29 in the Akmola, Kostanay, and Karaganda regions. Following this, the Pavlodar and East Kazakhstan regions can expect heavy rain on August 30 and 31. In contrast, the eastern parts of the country will experience cooler nights, ranging from 5 to 10 degrees Celsius, with daytime highs between 15 and 25 degrees.

Meanwhile, the southern and western regions of Kazakhstan will largely escape the severe cold and precipitation. Southern areas are expected to remain significantly warmer, with nighttime temperatures between 10 and 20 degrees Celsius and daytime highs ranging from 25 to 35 degrees. Similarly, western regions will see daytime temperatures between 25 and 30 degrees, potentially reaching up to 35 degrees in the Mangystau region. These areas are predicted to remain mostly dry.
