Kazakhstan, NASA Agree to Develop Roadmap for Space Cooperation

Kazakhstan and NASA have agreed to forge a practical roadmap to expand their cooperation in space science, satellite technologies, and research. The agreement followed talks on July 13 at the Baikonur Cosmodrome between Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister Zhaslan Madiyev and NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman.

The discussions centered on bolstering collaboration in areas such as astrophysics, satellite technologies, and Earth remote sensing. Both sides explored new joint research initiatives and opportunities to deepen ties between universities and research institutions. A key focus was on training highly qualified specialists and promoting greater commercial collaboration within the space sector.

Madiyev highlighted the strategic importance of a partnership with NASA for Kazakhstan's scientific and technological advancement. He expressed Kazakhstan's interest in building long-term, practical cooperation with NASA, emphasizing tangible outcomes like joint research projects, the adoption of innovative technologies, and the development of a new generation of space professionals. Following the meeting, both agencies were tasked with preparing a detailed cooperation plan, underscoring their commitment to ongoing dialogue on future joint endeavors.
