Kazakhstan PM warns officials on infrastructure project delays

Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has issued a stern warning to regional leaders and government ministers, demanding an accelerated pace in the implementation of the National Project for Infrastructure Modernization. Speaking at a government meeting, Bektenov noted that while the necessary regulatory framework and financing mechanisms are in place and large-scale repair work has commenced, the speed of progress must increase to meet project goals.

"I instruct regional akimats to take appropriate measures within two weeks on projects being implemented this year," Bektenov stated. He emphasized that regional governors, or akims, bear personal responsibility for ensuring the completion of all planned repair campaigns by year's end, in conjunction with the Ministries of Industry and Construction, Energy, and National Economy.

The Prime Minister also directed the Ministry of Industry and Construction to fast-track the state examination of design and estimate documentation for upcoming infrastructure projects. Furthermore, officials were instructed to commence preparations for measures planned for 2027. A key deadline was set for September 1, by which time all regional akimats must submit their project applications on the electronic platform and secure coordination with relevant parties. All associated tender procedures are to be finalized by December 1.
