Kazakhstan Temporarily Reduces Oil Production Amid CPC Export Suspension

Kazakhstan has temporarily scaled back its oil production following a halt in loading operations at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) marine terminal. The suspension, which occurred on July 23, is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of vessels, crews, and the environment in the Black Sea.

According to the Energy Ministry, all production and technical facilities within the CPC remain fully operational and prepared to restart crude oil shipments once conditions improve. The ministry stated that the controlled adjustment to daily production levels is a technological necessity to prevent storage facilities from exceeding capacity, thereby maintaining stable production processes.

Officials are actively engaging with CPC management, major shippers, shipowners, and relevant government agencies. These consultations aim to guarantee safe navigation and facilitate the swift resumption of stable Kazakh oil exports to global markets. This situation follows recent drone attacks on civilian vessels using CPC infrastructure, which Kazakhstan condemned as threats to international energy security.
