Kebbi Emir Endorses Idris for a Second Term

The Emir of Yauri has endorsed Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris for a second term, saying the emirate is “indebted” to his administration for its development interventions.

Dr Muhammad Zayyanu Abdullahi, who is also chancellor of Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero, announced his position on Friday during a courtesy visit by the governor’s media aides to his palace in Yauri.

The emir praised what he called the administration’s achievements over its three years in office. He pointed to investments in education, roads, healthcare and agriculture, including the construction of mega schools, the rehabilitation and reconstruction of health facilities, and support for general hospitals across the emirate.

He also cited assistance to farmers through free fertiliser, seeds and water-pumping machines. In his account, government support for security agencies had reduced security challenges and enabled farmers to return to their farmlands.

The emir pledged continued support for Idris and expressed confidence that the government would maintain its development programmes in Yauri Emirate and across Kebbi State. Information Commissioner Yakubu Ahmed BK said the delegation had come to seek the monarch’s blessing and present the governor’s record to the public.
