Kebbi governor establishes new district, appoints traditional leaders

Kebbi State Governor Dr. Nasir Idris has approved the establishment of a new district and a village headship, signaling a move to bolster traditional leadership and local governance.

The newly created Buma District, carved from Dolekaina District in Dandi Local Government Area, will be led by Alhaji Salisu Hakimi. This district encompasses eight village areas: Tunga Rafi, Gamana, Tudunsan, Gillare, Bump Town, Goraro, Bukki, and Alfarma Kwara.

Additionally, Nasiru Umar Maizabo has been appointed as the Village Head of Marafan Garin Haruna in Tiggi District, Augie Local Government Area. These decisions, announced by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Garba Umar Dutsinmari, are in line with the Kebbi State Local Government Law.

Dutsinmari urged the newly appointed traditional rulers to uphold discipline, honesty, transparency, and dedication. He assured them of the Governor’s and the Ministry’s support, emphasizing that their appointments were based on their past records. The move is expected to enhance grassroots administration in the affected communities.
