Kebbi High Court Judge Abducted by Suspected Bandits

Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza, a High Court judge in Nigeria's Kebbi State, has been abducted by suspected bandits. The judge was taken from his residence in Bunza Local Government Area in the early hours of Sunday.

I can confirm that Hon. Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza was abducted from his residence in Bunza around midnight.

According to a source, the gunmen stormed Bunza's home along Zogirma Road shortly after he returned from Sokoto. The attackers reportedly fired shots sporadically before taking the judge away. Fortunately, no one else in the house was harmed during the incident.

The Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, confirmed the abduction. He stated that Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Muhammad Hadejia, immediately dispatched tactical and intelligence operatives to the scene. "As we speak, our personnel are combing identified locations, including forest areas, to ensure that the judge is rescued alive and unharmed," Usman said.

A senior official from the Kebbi State High Court, who wished to remain anonymous, described the incident as a "sad development for the judiciary" and "very disturbing." The court's management has convened with security agency heads to strategize on securing Justice Bunza's immediate release.
