Kebbi PDP rejects rumor of supporting APC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kebbi State, Nigeria, has vehemently denied circulating reports that it has endorsed the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections. The party leadership has asserted its commitment to remaining an independent political force within the state.

Usman Bello Suru, the Chairman of Kebbi State PDP, issued a statement on Sunday clarifying the party's position. He emphasized that the PDP is united and has not endorsed any political party or candidate outside its own ranks for the upcoming elections. Suru affirmed the party's intention to present candidates for all elective positions, dismissing the endorsement rumors as false and not representative of the PDP's stance.

"We do not have any division. We are one united party and we do not support any party and/or candidate other than the PDP," Suru stated. He urged party members, elders, and stakeholders to remain calm and uphold the core ideals of the opposition party in Kebbi State.

The clarification comes in response to reports suggesting a meeting between former Minister Buhari Bala and retired General Ishaya Bamayi, where an alleged endorsement of the APC was discussed. The PDP chairman reiterated that the party has not made any decision to support another political party in the lead-up to the elections.
