Kedah wins SUKMA 2026 rugby 7s gold

Kedah's men's rugby sevens squad clinched the gold medal at the 2026 Sukan Malaysia (SUKMA) Games, overcoming a tough Perak side 14-12 in a hard-fought final. The match, held at Padang Sultan Suleiman, saw Kedah maintain their lead until the final whistle, securing the championship title.

Perak put up a strong challenge but ultimately settled for the silver medal. Johor secured the bronze, defeating Wilayah Persekutuan 10-0 in their playoff match. The victory for Kedah was a testament to their disciplined play and effective execution of the team's strategy under coach Azizul Aziz.

In the women's category, Selangor successfully defended their gold medal, delivering a dominant performance to defeat Sarawak 41-0 in the final. This victory mirrored their success in the previous edition of the games, where they beat Sarawak 12-7. Sabah claimed the bronze medal in the women's event, defeating Terengganu 19-5.
