Kediri Regent warns against hoaxes, urges unity on Independence Day

Kediri Regent Hanindhito Himawan Pramana has urged the public to resist misinformation and preserve national unity. Speaking after the 81st Indonesian Independence Day ceremony at Canda Bhirawa Stadium, Pramana, commonly known as Mas Dhito, stressed the importance of not becoming polarized by unverified social media content.

Mas Dhito stated that the spirit of independence can be realized through unity and by contributing to development within each individual's field. He encouraged citizens to fill the commemoration of independence with positive activities tailored to their respective professions and roles.

I hope that all residents of Kediri Regency will not be polarized and easily fall for hoaxes.

Furthermore, the Regent extended his empathy to residents in East Nusa Tenggara and other areas impacted by recent earthquakes. He suggested that the independence day commemoration serves as an opportune moment to remember and pray for those facing natural disasters. "May we truly become a sovereign, just, and prosperous nation. May our brothers and sisters experiencing hardship be given strength, fortitude, and may all their affairs be made easier by Allah SWT," he said.

Mas Dhito officiated the 81st Independence Day ceremony at Stadion Canda Bhirawa, which was attended by elements of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, National Police, civil servants, regional representatives, veterans, scouts, political parties, community organizations, students, and other community groups. Following the ceremony, Mas Dhito and other regional leaders participated virtually in the flag-hoisting ceremony commemorating the Proclamation of Independence at the State Palace.
