Key "Los Chapitos" Financial Operator Arrested in Sinaloa

Mexican security forces have apprehended Ricardo Ozuna Tirado, known as "El Tío," a key financial operator and leader within a criminal cell affiliated with the "Los Chapitos" faction. The arrest occurred in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, a region known for cartel activity.

Ozuna Tirado, 49, is considered a significant figure in the group's illicit operations. The operation, a coordinated effort involving the Navy, the Secretariat of Public Security and Citizen Protection, the Attorney General's Office, and the National Intelligence Center, also resulted in the capture of five additional individuals.

During the arrests, authorities seized a cache of illegal items, including firearms, ammunition, drugs, and vehicles. In a separate but related apprehension, Alejandro Coronel Reyes Junior, a U.S. national, was also detained. He was found with two firearms, ammunition, approximately $100,000 USD, cell phones, computers, two vehicles, and two properties.

The Gabinete de Seguridad reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling criminal organizations and apprehending those responsible for violence. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat organized crime in the region.
