Khorfakkan administrative division complete, to be announced soon: Sheikh Sultan

The administrative division of Khorfakkan is now complete and awaiting official announcement, announced Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. This development follows the successful planning of the city, which is uniquely situated, being surrounded by mountains on all sides.

Just as we planned the city of Kalba, we have also planned the city of Khorfakkan, but the plan has not yet been published.

Further development plans are in motion, with a study initiated to level the summit of Al Aween Mountain. The goal is to create a new residential area on the mountain's peak, accommodating a significant number of people. This project highlights a commitment to expanding living spaces within the region.

All these neighbourhoods are neighbourhoods of Khorfakkan, not suburbs of Khorfakkan.

Sheikh Sultan also stressed the importance of place names, advocating for those that symbolize positive attributes. He noted that areas like Al Subaihiya and Al Haray are being reviewed for their names, questioning the retention of names with potentially negative connotations, such as those referencing snakes. The Ruler aims to ensure that place names reflect positive values for current and future generations.

We therefore wanted to give Al Subaihiya its due and made it a suburb encompassing Al Nakheel, Al Luluyah, Al Zubarah and Hasi.
