Kia partners with KT and USM to commercialize remote driving tech

Kia is accelerating its efforts in future mobility by partnering with KT and USM to commercialize remote driving technology. The automaker announced on July 23 that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the two companies to advance the development and deployment of this innovative service.

The collaboration specifically targets the commercialization of remote driving services for Kia's Purpose Built Vehicle (PBV) line, particularly the PV5 model launched last year. This initiative signifies a major step towards integrating advanced autonomous and remote control features into Kia's vehicle offerings.

Remote driving technology enables vehicles to be operated and controlled wirelessly by an external control center, even when no driver is present inside. This capability is expected to revolutionize logistics, delivery services, and potentially personal transportation by allowing vehicles to navigate autonomously or be guided remotely to users' locations, such as directly to their homes.
