Kidnapped worshippers rescued in Ekiti — Police

Worshippers abducted from the Christ Apostolic Church in Eda-Oniyo, Ekiti State, have been successfully rescued, the state's Police Command announced Saturday.

The victims were taken during an attack on the church on April 28. Their rescue was achieved through sustained intelligence-led operations and coordinated efforts involving the Nigeria Police Force, the military, other security agencies, the Amotekun Corps, local hunters, and the Ekiti State Government.

Following their rescue, the victims were transported to a hospital for medical examinations and treatment to ensure their well-being. Commissioner of Police, CP Falade Adegoroye, commended the dedication, professionalism, and synergy demonstrated by all security stakeholders, attributing the successful operation to their collective efforts.

The police commissioner stated that efforts are being intensified to apprehend the individuals responsible for the abduction. He reaffirmed the command's commitment to safeguarding lives and property throughout Ekiti State and urged residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies by reporting any suspicious persons or activities.
