Kim Min-hee, Hong Sang-soo attend Swiss film festival for first public appearance since birth of child

Actress Kim Min-hee and director Hong Sang-soo made their first joint public appearance since welcoming a child last year, attending the 79th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland. They were present for the screening and audience Q&A of their latest collaboration, 'Where the Land Ends,' which was invited to the international competition section.

This event marks a significant moment, as it is the first time the couple has appeared together at a formal event since Kim Min-hee gave birth to their son in April of the previous year. The film festival provided a platform for Kim Min-hee to share her experiences as a working mother.

During the post-screening Q&A, Kim Min-hee spoke candidly about the challenges and adjustments of balancing her acting career with motherhood. She revealed that her baby accompanied her to the film set, requiring her to manage breastfeeding and prepare baby food amidst her professional commitments. "The first things I did were to breastfeed and make baby food," she shared.

Kim Min-hee reflected on how her perspective has evolved, stating, "My appearance has changed from before, when I was solely focused on movies, determined and resolute. Now, after naturally finishing all preparations for my baby, I do my best for the movie. I think that has become a very healthy way of being."

'Where the Land Ends' tells the story of Sang-hee (played by Kim Min-hee), who travels to Jeju Island to find her mother, whom she hasn't seen in ten years. Kim Min-hee not only stars in the film but also served as its executive producer, while Hong Sang-soo handled directing, screenwriting, cinematography, sound, editing, and music. The film festival itself is one of Europe's most prestigious, following the Berlin, Cannes, and Venice festivals.
