King Power puts Leicester City up for sale after 16 years, reports say

Leicester City Football Club is reportedly on the market, with its Thai ownership group, King Power, seeking more than £200 million for the club and its associated assets after 16 years. A sales brochure, titled “Project Lineup” and produced by US investment bank Citigroup, is being circulated to prospective buyers.

The eight-page document includes the men's and women's teams, the 32,000-capacity King Power Stadium, and the Seagrave training facility. Leicester’s Belgian sister club, OH Leuven, is also part of the package. Citigroup describes the sale as a "rare opportunity to acquire a club with an excellent track record of winning promotions."

The brochure highlights the club's historic achievements, such as the 2016 Premier League title and the 2021 FA Cup victory. It projects Leicester's turnover at over £97 million for the 2026 financial year. However, the document omits details of the club's recent financial struggles, including over £103 million in bank loans in 2025 and reported losses exceeding £180 million during a period of two relegations in three years.

The potential sale follows growing frustration among Leicester supporters over the club's recent performance. The team was relegated from the Championship last season and will compete in the third tier under manager Russell Martin. Despite these struggles, the club is being marketed as one of only five English teams to have won the Premier League, FA Cup, and League Cup since 2000. The brochure also emphasizes the club's academy and scouting system, noting its strong talent pipeline.
