Klaipėda reduces popular beach length for summer season

Klaipėda city authorities have announced a reduction in the length of the popular Giruliai beach ahead of the summer season. A decree signed this week by the mayor designates the beach's length at 1.17 kilometers, comprising 970 meters north and 200 meters south of the central Giruliai path.

This marks a decrease from the previous year when the beach extended 1.35 kilometers along the Baltic Sea. While the northern section was longer last year, not all of it was supervised by lifeguards. This year, the entire Giruliai stretch falling within the designated area will be under lifeguard supervision.

In total, Klaipėda's six city beaches will span 7.27 kilometers. The largest remains the first Smiltynė beach, stretching 2.3 kilometers. Melnragė I and II beaches measure 1.5 and 1.32 kilometers, respectively.

Specific sections for men, women, and nudists remain unchanged in size and location. Additionally, small areas at Smiltynė and Melnragė I continue to permit visitors to bring pets, offering designated zones for animal owners.
