Kleiza: Silent protests are illogical in Lithuania's current sharp basketball situation

Linas Kleiza, head of the Lithuanian men's basketball team, voiced strong opinions regarding the national team's current struggles and player availability. He described the rapid changes in the team's composition and performance over the past few weeks, moving from what he considered their "best, most talented team" to its current state. Kleiza acknowledged the desire for the team to look different but stated, "it is what it is."

Sport is such a thing that everything changes quickly. How everything has changed in these 3-4 weeks. From our best, most talented team to what the national team is now. Would you like that team to look different? Of course, you would like it, but it is what it is.

When questioned about why many players did not join the national team, Kleiza deferred, suggesting reporters ask the players directly. He mentioned that the reasons heard were related to clubs and the upcoming seasons. However, he also addressed speculation about "silent protests," finding them illogical given the "sharp situation" the team faces. Kleiza argued that if protests were necessary, they should have occurred earlier, not after a significant loss.

He pointed out the long drought of victories, stating, "We haven't had victories for a very long time." Kleiza concluded by emphasizing the need to focus on the upcoming games with the available players, despite the complex situation and the short preparation time.
