Korea Literature Translation Institute Global Literature Forum to be held July 1-3

The Korea Literature Translation Institute (LTI) is set to host the '2026 Korea Literature Translation Institute Global Literature Forum' from July 1st to 3rd at Hotel Coreana in Seoul. Under the theme 'Korean Literature, Attraction and Resonance,' the forum will celebrate the 140th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Korea and France on its opening day.

The first day will feature poetry readings and dialogues between Korean poet Na Tae-joo and French poet Thomas Vinau, alongside a session with Korean poet Park Sang-soon and Linda Maria Baros. The second day will focus on 'The Reception of Korean Literature,' with presentations and discussions by international scholars including Philip Gowman from the US, Anders Carlsson from Sweden (Europe), and Nagi Yoshikawa from Japan.

The forum's third day will include dialogues between Korean authors and their translators. Novelist Yoon Go-eun will speak with Italian translator Lia Iovenitti, writer Park Sang-young with Christine Vida Alfaro, publisher of Tilted Axis Press (UK), and author Choi Eun-young with Japanese translator Furukawa Iyako. A keynote lecture on 'Linguistic Symbiosis of Korean Literature and Translation' by poet Na Hee-deok will precede a discussion on 'The Future of Korean Literature' on the second day, featuring analysis and projections by professors Yoo Seong-ho and Kim Ji-eun, and critic Park In-sung.

LTI President Jeon Soo-yong emphasized the forum's significance as a platform for global literary figures to gather, share the merits of Korean literature, and explore avenues for broader international engagement. He expressed hope for active exchange of diverse perspectives and a continued expansion of discourse to foster the global spread and new possibilities of Korean literature.
