Kosovo PM hit with eggs in parliament over government formation delay

Kosovo's parliamentary session came to an abrupt halt on Saturday when an opposition lawmaker, Time Kadrijaj, hurled eggs at Prime Minister Albin Kurti. The dramatic incident unfolded as Kurti, whose Self-Determination Party (VV) won the June election but fell short of an absolute majority, requested additional time for government formation.

"Shame on you!" Kadrijaj of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) reportedly shouted as she threw the eggs. Live broadcast of the session was cut as security personnel rushed to shield the prime minister. Despite the disruption, Kurti appeared unfazed, stating he was willing to pay the price of egg-throwing for the sake of dialogue.

The coalition talks are proving difficult, with a two-thirds majority needed to elect a new president. Kurti has been negotiating with opposition parties for days. Failure to form a new government could lead to another snap election, prolonging the political uncertainty in the country.
