KPK Issues New Investigation Orders in Customs Bribery Case

Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has initiated two new investigation orders to further develop its ongoing probe into alleged bribery within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of the Ministry of Finance. These new directives follow an analysis of evidence from previous trial proceedings, indicating a deepening investigation into corrupt practices.

According to Achmad Taufik Husein, the acting Director of Investigations at KPK, the new investigation orders are a result of identifying two distinct "clusters" of bribery totaling Rp 91 billion. The funds reportedly originated from the import company PT Blueray Cargo, which allegedly bribed customs officials and other parties to facilitate import processing.

Husein confirmed that one new suspect has been named as part of this expanded investigation, though he declined to disclose the individual's identity. This new suspect is linked to one of the identified bribery clusters involving customs officials. The KPK stated that the development of the investigation is based on facts uncovered and will pursue all involved parties.

One cluster related to customs has had its suspect named, because it is still related to the construction of the customs officials' case, so we immediately named them.

This case has already seen six suspects brought to trial. Four recipients of the alleged bribes include former Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation officials Rizal, Sisprian Subiaksono, Orlando Hamonangan, and Budiman Bayu Prasojo. The bribe payers, identified as John Field, Andri, and Dedy Kurniawan from PT Blueray Cargo, have already received prison sentences and fines from the Jakarta Corruption Court.
