Krešimir Sučević Međeral Reclaims Croatian Quiz Championship Title

The 12th Croatian Championship in Mixed Quiz Pairs has once again showcased the vibrant and competitive spirit of the nation's quizzing community. Held in the welcoming atmosphere of Casper's cafe bar in Trešnjevka, the event drew 57 pairs from all corners of Croatia and even beyond, solidifying its status as a premier and relaxed fixture on the annual quizzing calendar.

This year, the coveted gold medals were claimed by Sara Librenjak and Krešimir Sučević Međeral. Sučević Međeral, a seasoned competitor, reaffirmed his exceptional consistency, securing his fourth championship title and his fourth podium finish in the last six editions. "It's an encouraging feeling to have consistency – in the last six editions of the championship, I've been on the podium every time, and now for the fourth time on the highest step, which means a lot in the world of quizzes where great young competitors are constantly emerging," he stated. He also extended praise to his partner, with whom he has now won the title three times.

The silver medal was awarded to Marta Brkljačić and Domagoj Pozderac from Jastrebarsko, while the bronze went to the Split duo Mia Miošić and Lucian Šošić. This podium represented a diverse and strong field of competitors from various regions of Croatia, highlighting the breadth of talent across the country.

Special recognition was also given in additional categories. Maja Bulatović and Leo Kovač from Rijeka were named the best married couple, humorously receiving a symbolic "golden rolling pin." Mara Krnić and Fabijan Bošnjak took home the title for the best pair under 25, narrowly missing the finals but earning a glass medal. The finals themselves featured the top ten pairs from cities including Zagreb, Rijeka, Split, Osijek, Jastrebarsko, and Istria, further underscoring the depth and strength of the Croatian quizzing scene. Notable participants like Mladen Vukorepa and Mario Kovač also made their presence felt, with Kovač expressing satisfaction with his performance.

Petra Lypolt, vice-president of the Croatian Quiz Association, expressed her delight in organizing such events, emphasizing their role in the growth and development of the quizzing scene and its expanding community. "I am extremely pleased to organize such events because it is precisely through them that the quizzing scene grows, develops, and gains an ever-wider community of participants. It is a pleasure to see the great interest and the level of knowledge that competitors have. An important part of every Croatian Quiz Association competition is, of course, socializing too," she said. The organizers also distributed a variety of sponsor prizes, adding to the excitement of the championship.
