KRL Commuter Line Services Cut as KAI Carries Out Intensive Maintenance

KAI Commuter has cut 17 KRL Commuter Line trips across Jakarta and surrounding areas while it carries out intensive maintenance on its train sets.

The temporary schedule changes began on Sept. 7, 2026, affecting services in the morning, afternoon and evening. Seven trips from Bogor, Cilebut and Depok toward Manggarai and Jakarta Kota were canceled in the morning, along with five trips from Jakarta Kota to Bogor. In the afternoon, two trips from Manggarai to Bogor and three trips from Bogor were also adjusted.

KAI Commuter Vice President of Corporate Secretary Karina Amanda said the operator was changing schedules to match the number of train sets available at different times of day. “We are currently carrying out intensive maintenance on the existing KRL train sets, for the safety and security of journeys,” she said in a written statement.

Information obtained by Republika said train sets produced by PT Inka had developed problems and needed to be inspected. The issue reduced service because the trains had to enter maintenance workshops. The article said Chinese-built and former Japanese trains had not experienced problems.

KAI Commuter now operates 1,048 trips across all Jabodetabek Commuter Line routes each day, down from 1,065. Karina said the trains used daily for passenger mobility needed maintenance to optimize service and uphold safety. She apologized for the inconvenience and asked passengers to adjust their travel plans. The company said it would provide regular updates at stations and on trains, through the C-Access app and via its official social media accounts.
