Rescue efforts are underway in Japan's Kumamoto Prefecture following a powerful magnitude 7.1 earthquake, as search teams race against time to find survivors amidst collapsed buildings and debris. A particularly tragic scene unfolded at the "Aeon Mall Kumamoto" in Kashima Town, where an explosion occurred after the earthquake. Authorities have recovered 12 individuals from the site: six deceased, one with cardiac arrest, and five injured. Officials believe more people may still be trapped within the damaged structure. The mall was reportedly crowded with around 3,000 customers and 1,300-1,500 employees at the time of the quake.

In Uki City, 72-year-old Suguio Sugiura was found unconscious after his home collapsed. His younger brother, who lived with him, expressed his deep loss, stating, "We were together every day."
