Kuwait anchors maritime shield

Kuwait's First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, undertook a field tour of several islands and maritime centers. The visit aimed to review operations, readiness levels, and procedures for ensuring maritime border security and safety. During the tour, he was welcomed by the Director General of the Coast Guard, Brigadier General (Navy) Sheikh Mubarak Ali Al-Yousef Al-Sabah. Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef inspected facilities at the Umm Al-Maradim Island port, examining operational mechanisms and inter-agency coordination. He also visited Qaruh Island, assessing ongoing construction and directing adherence to schedules, facility improvements, and better living conditions for personnel. On Kubbar Island, he reviewed the security situation and measures in place, receiving briefings on field operations. He commended the Coast Guard for their efforts in protecting maritime borders and ensuring safety at sea. Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef also engaged with citizens and beachgoers, valuing their feedback and emphasizing direct communication. He issued directives to enhance maritime centers, boost readiness, provide necessary resources, and strengthen coordination among port and island agencies. In a separate development, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, and Pakistan signed the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement on Friday. This agreement commits the three nations to strengthening collective security and defense cooperation, enhancing deterrence against aggression, and promoting regional peace and stability. The pact stipulates that an armed attack on one signatory will be considered an attack on all three.
