Kuwait approves new nursing allowances up to KD 1,510 monthly

Kuwait's Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, has issued a ministerial resolution approving significant increases in monthly allowances and bonuses for nursing and midwifery staff. Ministerial Resolution No. 206 of 2026 aims to enhance compensation for these essential healthcare professionals, introducing technically graded joint job titles for nursing and midwifery positions.

The new allowances are tiered, with compensation increasing based on job titles, years of experience, and career progression. For Kuwaiti nursing and midwifery staff, the highest monthly allowances reach KD 1,510 for senior positions like Head Nursing Specialist or Head Midwifery Specialist. Other senior roles, such as Senior Nursing Specialist and Senior Midwifery Specialist, will receive up to KD 1,430, while specialists will get KD 1,350. Staff nurses and midwives will receive allowances up to KD 1,110, with assistant roles receiving up to KD 1,040.

These allowances encompass various components, including payments for the nature of work, job level bonuses, incentives, cost of living adjustments, shift work, supervision duties, training, and on-call responsibilities. Similar, though distinct, allowance structures are also outlined for non-Kuwaiti nursing and midwifery staff, reflecting their roles and responsibilities within the healthcare system.

Furthermore, the resolution details updated allowances for nursing services technicians. Kuwaiti technicians in senior roles can receive up to KD 230 for work nature allowance, alongside job level bonuses, incentive bonuses, cost of living allowances, and on-call payments. Non-Kuwaiti technicians also have specific allowances outlined, including work nature and job level bonuses, with adjustments for cost of living and on-call duties.
