Kuwait Club launches preseason after trophy-laden handball campaign

Kuwait Club's first-team handball squad commenced its preseason preparations for the 2026-27 season on August 15th. Training sessions are being held at the club's indoor hall under the guidance of Brazilian head coach Marcos Oliveira. The team is motivated to replicate and build upon its outstanding performance from the previous season, during which they secured a treble of titles: the league championship, the Federation Cup, and the Super Cup. The coaching staff's primary focus will be on sustaining the team's winning momentum while ensuring all preparations for the upcoming season are thoroughly completed. To bolster the squad, Kuwait Club has successfully renewed the contract of Montenegrin international Vladan Lipovina and signed Bahraini player Mohammed Habib. Additionally, Mohammed Bayas, Mohammed Ghannafour, and Hussam Matouq have returned after loan spells with Burgan. Haider Dashti has also joined from Al-Salmiya, further strengthening the team's roster. However, the club will also be without several players. Qatar's Frankis Marzo and Portugal's Victor Iturriza have departed, along with a number of Kuwaiti players including Mohammed Amer, Mishari Sawan, Yaqoub Al-Asiri, Mohammed Al-Boushi, Fahad Abdulhadi, Mishal Taha, and Ali Safar. Some of these players have already found new clubs, while others are still considering their future options. Team manager Sameh Al-Hajri expressed the commitment of the club's management, handball department, technical staff, and players to ensuring an ideal preseason. He stated that preparations will encompass all technical, physical, and administrative aspects, with a collective determination to maximize the benefits of the training period and achieve the necessary level of readiness before the season commences. Al-Hajri emphasized that Kuwait's handball team aspires to remain a formidable contender for every domestic and international trophy, aligning with the ambitions of the club's management and its supporters.
