Kuwait Foils Terrorist Plot Targeting Vital Facility

Bahrain's High Criminal Court has issued significant rulings in multiple terrorism-related cases, handing down prison sentences and fines to individuals accused of plotting against the kingdom and supporting foreign-backed attacks.

In one case, three defendants were convicted of joining a terrorist group with the intent to carry out hostile acts against Bahrain, disrupt public order, and undermine national security. The court sentenced all three to 15 years in prison and fined two of them BD2,000 each. Investigations revealed the defendants were tasked with carrying out terrorist activities within Bahrain and facilitating funds for affiliated elements. The accused admitted to the charges.

In a separate development, the court dealt with cases involving support for Iranian terrorist attacks. Three defendants received prison terms of up to 10 years, with some also fined up to BD5,000. These cases stemmed from social media monitoring, which uncovered content endorsing Iranian attacks and publishing information about sensitive sites. Investigations identified the individuals operating these accounts.

Furthermore, the High Criminal Court convicted two defendants of spying for Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), an organization designated as terrorist. These individuals were found to be acting on behalf of the IRGC to assist in its hostile and terrorist activities. The Public Prosecution emphasized its commitment to pursuing crimes linked to terrorist groups and urged social media users to exercise responsibility online, warning against disseminating content that could harm national security.
