Kuwait City – The opening of the first central market in Al-Mutlaa City marks a significant step in providing essential services to the area's growing population. Minister of Social, Family and Childhood Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah inaugurated the market at the Mutlaa Cooperative Society in District N8, emphasizing that this is the beginning of a broader rollout of facilities aimed at enhancing the lives of Mutlaa City residents. The initiative is part of a coordinated effort by various government bodies to accelerate the development and provision of services in new urban areas.

Dr. Al-Huwailah stated that the Ministry of Social Affairs will introduce a range of services, including family care and social development centers, cooperative societies, and event halls. The ministry is also committed to the phased implementation of Kuwaitization plans to ensure national employment. Governor of Jahra, Hamad Al-Habashi, highlighted the strategic importance of Mutlaa City due to its substantial size and population density. He suggested that the city requires at least four or five cooperative societies to adequately serve its residents.

Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Cooperative Affairs, Dr. Sayed Issa, confirmed that the N8 District market is the first of several planned cooperative and commercial service points. He revealed that additional markets and cooperative branches will open as construction, equipping, and licensing processes are completed. A central market in N11 District is scheduled to open by November 22, 2026, with more facilities to follow across various districts. The ministry is also collaborating with the Kuwait Municipality to approve investment plans for shops and external activities within these markets, expecting approvals within the coming week. These facilities will include essential services like bakeries, barbershops, and dry cleaners, aiming to provide comprehensive amenities for the suburban community.
