Kwara Community Welcomes New Army Battalion to Boost Security

Residents and traditional rulers in Kwara State's Irepodun Local Government Area have welcomed the establishment of a new Army battalion in Omu-Aran, expressing optimism that it will significantly improve security. The community leaders, including the Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba AbdulRaheem Adeoti, and the Executive Chairman of Irepodun Local Government, Abdulazeez Yakub, extended their appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the initiative. Oba Adeoti assured the military of the community's full support, stating, "I want to assure you that our support, especially in terms of the welfare of the battalion, will be 100 per cent, by the grace of God. You will enjoy your stay in Omu-Aran." He also expressed gratitude that the battalion's location was not changed. The new battalion will operate under the command of Lt.-Col. Kehinde Avoseh. The establishment of this military presence is anticipated to bolster security across Kwara South and the broader state. Abdulazeez Yakub pledged the local council's full cooperation with the Nigerian Army in their duties. Prince Niyi Adeyeye, President of the Omu-Aran Development Association, echoed these sentiments, believing the battalion's deployment will restore peace and security to the region. The ceremony was attended by various traditional rulers and community leaders, underscoring the widespread support for the new security measure.
