Kyrgyz Theaters Earn Over 60 Million Som in First Half of 2026

Kyrgyzstan's theaters have generated over 60 million som from ticket sales in the first half of 2026, indicating a growing demand for cultural performances. This figure follows substantial earnings of 77 million som in 2024 and 107 million som in 2025, demonstrating a consistent upward trend in theater attendance.

This indicates that demand and theater attendance are increasing every year.

Mirbek Mambetaliyev, head of the Ministry of Culture, announced the revenue figures and highlighted the development of a new ticketing system. This system aims to monitor the quality of the theater-going audience by collecting data on age and other demographic categories.

To monitor the qualitative composition of our theater and concert enthusiasts, we have specifically developed such a ticketing system, where age and other categories will be indicated.

Mambetaliyev also noted that cultural activities are thriving not only in the capital, Bishkek, but also in the regions. While many cultural institutions are currently involved in the World Nomad Games, plans are in place for theater troupes to tour rural areas starting in October and November. To facilitate these regional tours, 72 buses of various capacities were acquired in 2025, ensuring that villagers will have access to cultural performances.
