Kyrgyzstan Heatwave: Children Sprayed with Water in Cities

Residents of Kyrgyzstan are enduring an abnormal heatwave that began on July 17, prompting unusual measures in several cities to help children cope with the extreme temperatures. In Osh, employees of the municipal enterprise "Osh-Tazalyk" have been driving through the streets with water trucks, spraying children with cooling water. Similar initiatives are underway in other cities, including Bishkek, Manas, and Kara-Balta, where public services are attempting to offer some respite from the sweltering heat. In some locations, free ice cream is also being distributed to children.

While the intense heat is expected to continue, there is a forecast for a slight decrease in temperatures starting July 21. Until then, the water sprayings and other cooling efforts serve as a temporary measure to alleviate the discomfort caused by the prolonged period of high temperatures.
