Kyrgyzstan: Iceberg lettuce grown for export in Kochkor district

A Kyrgyz-Czech joint agricultural company, "Ekoterr," is cultivating iceberg lettuce in the Kochkor district, aiming to boost agricultural exports. The company has leased 20 hectares of land from "Mamasyil tukum" farm, dedicating 12 hectares to growing the "Iceberg" variety using a modern drip irrigation system.

Initial harvest projections indicate an average yield of around 30 tons per hectare. This efficiency highlights the effectiveness of employing contemporary cultivation technologies and the rational use of agricultural land. The project is expected to significantly increase the volume of domestic agricultural product exports and ensure the local market is supplied with quality vegetables.

The harvested iceberg lettuce will be distributed to both neighboring countries and the domestic market. This initiative not only supports the growth of modern agribusiness forms but also contributes to the overall development of Kyrgyzstan's agricultural sector by increasing export volumes and saturating the internal market with high-quality produce.
