Kyrgyzstan Leads Medal Count in Horse Races at World Nomad Games

Kyrgyzstan led the medal count after horse races at the Cholpon-Ata hippodrome on September 4 as part of the Sixth World Nomad Games. Kyrgyz competitors secured 17 prize places across seven events, which carried a combined prize pool of 20.6 million soms.

The program included flat races over 1,600, 2,400 and 3,200 meters, as well as the traditional events byshty zhorgo, zhorgo salysh, kunan chabysh and alaman baige. The 1,600-meter flat race was won by Khutulun of Tajikistan, while Kyrgyz horses Meteor, Aisuluu and Baitoru took the next three places.

Kazakh horses won the 2,400-meter and 3,200-meter races. Bakara and Padisha from Kyrgyzstan finished second and fourth over 2,400 meters, while Birman was fourth over 3,200 meters.

Kyrgyzstan dominated the traditional events. Erke, Kolonvуд, Padjet and Banzai filled the top four places in the 6,000-meter byshty zhorgo race, with the first three from Kyrgyzstan. Kyrgyz horses also took first, second and fourth in the 11,000-meter zhorgo salysh race. Kazakhstan swept the 25,000-meter alaman baige and won three of the four places in the 12,000-meter kunan chabysh.
