Kyrgyzstan prepares for tourist season, reports 18% rise in border crossings

Kyrgyzstan's Border Service has announced its readiness for the upcoming tourist season and significant international events, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit and the VI World Nomad Games. Preparations include enhancing infrastructure and services at border checkpoints.

The service reported a substantial increase in border traffic. In June, over 3.5 million people crossed the state border, an 18% rise compared to April, when the figure was just over 3 million. The number of foreign nationals also saw a notable increase, growing by over 15% from 1.584 million in April to 1.827 million in June.

To manage the increased flow and ensure smooth passage for individuals and vehicles, the Border Service is conducting continuous monitoring of the situation at checkpoints. As of July 17, all border crossings are operating normally, with no passenger backlogs observed on the Kyrgyz side. The volume of cargo transport at certain points aligns with current traffic intensity and does not disrupt operations.

In an effort to improve information accessibility for citizens and visitors, the Border Service has installed informational displays at checkpoints. Additionally, the mobile application "Digital Border" was launched on July 15, allowing real-time monitoring of queues and facilitating planned border crossings. The service reaffirms its commitment to ensuring a comfortable and timely border control experience for tourists and participants of international events.
