Kyrgyzstan stops illegal cannabis product sales

The Drug Control Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kyrgyzstan has successfully halted the activities of individuals engaged in the illegal advertising and sale of products containing cannabis components. The operation, which took place in July 2026, targeted online sales conducted through Instagram.

During a search of a store identified as «M.», authorities discovered and seized various products. These included tea, flour, oil, sprays, and vitamin capsules, all confirmed to contain cannabis plant components. The seized items were subsequently sent for forensic examination.

A report from the forensic service of the Ministry of Justice, dated August 6, confirmed that the substances submitted for examination contained cannabis straw concentrate, commonly known as marijuana. According to Kyrgyzstan's list of controlled narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their precursors, approved by Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 152, cannabis straw concentrate is classified as a narcotic substance and is strictly prohibited from circulation within the country.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized that its actions are in accordance with the law. It issued a reminder to citizens, urging them to thoroughly familiarize themselves with all relevant laws and legal regulations and to strictly comply with them before commencing any business activities.
