Kyrgyzstan to Host Alykul Fest 2026 International Poetry Festival

Kyrgyzstan is set to host the Alykul Fest 2026 International Poetry Festival, an event designed to celebrate significant national milestones. The festival will commemorate the 35th anniversary of Kyrgyzstan's independence, the 100th anniversary of the Chui region, and the 45th anniversary of the Alykul Osmonov Literary Association.

The centerpiece of the festival will be a poetry competition, held at the Alykul Osmonov State Memorial Cultural Complex in Kaptal-Aryk village, Chui region. This competition is open to Kyrgyz poets and writers residing both within Kyrgyzstan and abroad. Additionally, it welcomes participants from the literary and creative communities of Turkic countries.

Authors of all ages are eligible to compete, with the exception of those who hold the honorary title of People's Poet of the Kyrgyz Republic. While participants from other countries can join online, those within Kyrgyzstan will compete in person. The deadline for submissions is August 28 at 6 p.m.

Winners of the poetry competition will be announced and awarded on September 21. Each author is permitted to submit a maximum of three poems. Only previously unpublished works that adhere to literary standards and fully align with the competition's theme will be considered.
